Michael Hanson is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer best known as the founding drummer of Glass Tiger. With an award-winning career that includes 4 Junos, a Grammy nomination, and international acclaim, Hanson now dedicates his time to producing emerging Canadian talent and celebrating his hometown roots in East Gwillimbury. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2025.
On May 23rd, 2025, Michael Hanson released “Holding Hope”, a brand-new single and video to celebrate both his induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and his hometown of Sharon in East Gwillimbury. “Holding Hope” is a heartfelt tribute to the beauty, spirit, and history of East Gwillimbury and the enduring legacy of the Children of Peace, and their work to create a community rooted in democracy, cooperation, and hope.
The song’s music video (directed by local filmmaker Tristan Nugent) was filmed in and around the Sharon Temple, here at Sharon Museum & Gardens. Proceeds from the song and video have been pledged to support Sharon Museum & Gardens, as well as other local arts initiatives. Thank you, Michael!
